Day 1: Ouarzazate to Dades Valley – A Scenic Start
Start your adventure in Ouarzazate, a city renowned for its film studios and impressive kasbahs like Taourirt. Explore the city’s unique blend of architecture and cinema history.
Depart Ouarzazate and journey towards the Dades Valley, passing through the Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, celebrated for its fragrant rose blossoms used in perfumery. Arrive in the Dades Valley, known for its striking rock formations and the Dades Gorges. Spend the night here, amidst the picturesque landscapes of the High Atlas.
Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga – Entering the Desert
Travel from the Dades Valley to Merzouga, located at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, the most spectacular part of the Moroccan Sahara. The journey takes you past the Todra Gorges, with its towering canyon walls.
Arrive in Merzouga and prepare for an unforgettable camel trek into the dunes. Experience the serenity and vastness of the desert landscape. As the sun sets, watch the dunes change colors, creating a magical atmosphere. Spend the night in a desert camp, enjoying traditional Berber hospitality and a starlit sky.
Day 3: Merzouga to Midelt – Transitioning Landscapes
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast, begin your journey to Midelt, a town situated between the Middle and High Atlas mountain ranges. This leg of the trip takes you from the stark desert landscapes to the lush valleys and mountainous terrains of the Atlas. Midelt offers a peaceful stopover with its cooler climate and picturesque setting. Overnight in Midelt, enjoying the tranquility of the area.
Day 4: Midelt to Fes – The Cultural Destination
On your final day, travel from Midelt to Fes. This route offers stunning views of the Middle Atlas Mountains and passes through several traditional Berber villages, providing insight into the rural life of Morocco.
Upon arrival in Fes, explore the ancient medina, Fes el Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its intricate maze-like alleyways, vibrant markets, and historical landmarks such as the Bou Inania Madrasa and Al-Qarawiyyin University.
