2 Days from Errachidia to Fes

Embark on a 2-day journey from Errachidia to Fes, passing through the enchanting Merzouga dunes, a trip that offers a glimpse into the heart of the Moroccan Sahara and the rich culture of its cities. This brief but comprehensive tour is perfect for those seeking to experience the contrast between Morocco’s desert landscapes and its historic urban centers.

Day 1: Errachidia to Merzouga – Desert Wonders

Begin your journey in Errachidia, a city known for its lush palm groves and as a gateway to the Sahara Desert. Set off towards Merzouga, a small village that serves as the entrance to the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes, some of the most impressive in the Sahara.

Upon arriving in Merzouga, prepare for a camel trek into the heart of the dunes. This iconic Sahara experience allows you to witness the vastness and tranquility of the desert. As the sun sets, observe the dunes changing colors, creating a breathtaking panorama. Spend the night in a traditional desert camp under the stars, enjoying a night of Berber hospitality, complete with local music and cuisine.

Day 2: Merzouga to Fes – Cultural Immersion

Awaken early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, a peaceful and invigorating start to the day. After breakfast, begin the journey to Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic and culturally rich cities. The drive from Merzouga to Fes takes you through varying landscapes, offering a chance to see the diverse beauty of Morocco.

Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or evening. Fes, known as the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco, boasts a rich history evident in its ancient medina, Fes el Bali. While there might not be enough time for extensive exploration on this day, take a moment to absorb the atmosphere of the city, perhaps with a brief walk through the medina or a visit to one of its famed tanneries.

This 2-day trip from Errachidia to Fes via Merzouga is a journey that captures the essence of Morocco, blending the serene beauty of the Sahara with the vibrant historical tapestry of one of its most renowned cities.
